But there are several reasons why we have to disable it. if the audio is active, then you can find an icon on the notifications area of the taskbar. How to Disable Windows Audio Service.

Method 1 - Disable windows audio via services.msc

  1. Hit the start button + R on the keyboard to launch run dialogue box, then type services.msc - Enter.
  2. It will open the services program windows. 
  3. At this window you can see the two-panel window, now see the right window panel and scroll down the screen to browse an item.
  4. Then look for the following item;
    • windows audio
    • windows audio endpoint builder.
  5. Now, double-click on the current item to view its description. what is the windows audio descriptions?
    •  manages audio for a Windows-based program. If this service is stopped, audio devices and effect will not function properly. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
  6. Your action will open the windows audio properties window.
  7. Now, go to the startup type and click the drop-down menu to select disabled.
  8. Then, under the service status click stop button end with click apply.
  9. The windows audio service is disabled now.

Method 2. - Disable windows audio via regedit

This method shows you how to change the Startup type of Windows Audio from Registry Editor. Please perform the following steps:

  1. Please go to Pearl button (Start) and click on the Search programs and files.
  2. Type Regedit and press Enter.
  3. Please confirm User Account Control pop-up.
  4. Microsoft official disclaimer.

  5. Please navigate to :
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Audiosrv 
    • and locate Start registry key
  6. Double click on Start and edit the value:
    • Change Startup type : 
      • Automatic - 2 
      • Manual - 3 
      • Disabled - 4 
      • Automatic (Delayed Start) - 2
    • Note: When you change to Automatic (Delayed Start) a new key DelayedAutostart is created with value 1. When you change to Automatic from Automatic (Delayed Start), DelayedAutostart change value to 0.
